Hi Stanley,
I used to read the Tobin books back in the seventies and early eighties, usually on long train journeys, flights or more often waiting for the flights! I've rarely read books with so many laugh out loud moments and I always wished I'd found more of them. I recently decided to reread "The Sewing Machine Man" for the umpteenth time and thought I'd check out the internet thingy. Found this brilliant site, got the names of the books I missed, and best of all found out about the latest addition. This is of course now on order! Thanks again for all the pleasure your books have given me.
Best wishes, Martin

I'll also write direct to your email address.

Hi Stanely,
Greetings from Down Under (Buzz Malone's territory - the Land of Oz).
I just wanted to say that even 40 years after the first Tobin book, guys like me and my best mate Muz, still, laugh out loud, share paragraphs while reading different books at the same time and are still inspired by Tobin and his pals (and I’m 50 now. Yours are some of the most uplifting books I've ever read - they make me feel young again. Thanks.

Hi Stanley I am a great fan of the Tobin books and have noticed that there is nothing on the site Wikipedia about you or Russ Tobin. I started a wiki page but they may delete it as the frequently do with new pages
I thought I would come and tell you about it so perhaps you could have someone work on it?

Hi Stanley,
brilliant site with some great pics and info.
I've seen a few of the movies you've starred in (watched Seance on a wet afternoon just yesterday) and would love to see Doomsday at 11. I'll keep looking for it and if I've any joy I'll let you know.
Cheers Henry

Hi Marie,
Thank you so much for writing. It's always a great pleasure to hear from Tobin supporters.
Many, if not all, Tobin books are available on sites such as AbeBooks.co.uk and Amazon.co.uk. I've just checked with AbeBooks and there are at least two copies of Tobin For Hire listed.
I will email you direct for a chat!
Many thanks again,

Hello Stanley,
I hadn't realised you were still writing. I remember avidly reading the Tobin series when a youth, though conscious that I didn't quite have Tobin's success with girls! Thank you for providing such enjoyable entertainment, and as a previous visitor mentioned, the ability to laugh out loud at unexpected moments. Quite an achievement in my book.
Kind regards,
Julian

Hi there
Looked at your website and had to leave a message. I bought Octopus Hill over 30 years ago ( in about 1973 )and could never get a copy of Mission to Katuma. I've looked and looked for all this time and finally my persistence paid off. I found a copy at a car boot sale yesterday.
Can't wait to read it.
Susan

Some long awaited updates to the site, including some great new audio footage of a selection from Stan's advertisment voice-overs (see the films section).
Also added some details for Stan's appearance in Norman Wisdom's "On The Beat" - along with some Youtube clips from Dr No & Konga. Meanwhile the Magnum P.I myth is well and truly debunked.
Finally - added a new poster that surfaced on eBay for "Doomsday At Eleven"
Enjoy! |

G'day Stanley,
Just found your website and enjoyed my youth all over again! I even checked out my bookshelf and blew the dust off the Tobin set, the Randy Comfort set and the Flyboy set! Gunna have to get in and read them again!
The web page is great and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Best wishes, Keith (Perth)

Just saw the video interview and I'm pretty excited that you're working on a new Tobin book and that Tobin will be coming to TV/movie. What do you think the timeline for the book and the movie will be? By the way, just to let you know that I started collecting your books just about 3 or 4 years ago, and am glad to say that I have collected almost all your books (I still need to get a few of your "serious" ones still!) Thanks for continuing to write and keep smiles on our faces!

Great to hear from you, David.
Time lines for both film and book are rather in the lap of the Movie-gods.
Pillay-Evans are pursuing the project vigorously, but have only just begun. Hopefully it will take place this year. The book will be published to coincide.
Thank you so much for writing. Very best regards, Stanley. |

Just read Cuckoo. Read the whole thing in one sitting. I borrowed it off my partners brother Dave, who potrays Tobin on the front cover. i think he looks a little like Pee-Wee Herman, still, never mind. Dave said I would like the book because it is set in the 70s, is this true?

Hello Peter,
Thank you so much for writing.
The time setting for Tobin Goes Cuckoo is really in the mind of the reader.
It is the first Tobin adventure to be written since 1979 - at the request of numerous fans who asked for 'one more Tobin'. It appears to have pleased them.
Hope you enjoyed it, too.
Very best wishes...Stanley |
