I kept a copy of the Guardian print edition so can do a scan if you wish + I did screen grabs of the online Guardian obit which had been posted much earlier. Please let me know if you'd like these sent through; happy to oblige.

Hi Rob.
Have you managed to put together any of those screenplays or other unpublished works of Stan's? An early Christmas present maybe!!
I'm still reading the books religiously, by the way!!!! Near the end of Vegas.
Cheers.
Tony

Hi Tony - not yet, and unlikely to happen before Christmas (but you never know!)
Stan's obituary is in the print edition of the Guardian TODAY if you can get hold of a copy!

It was with great sadness I read about Stanley Morgan's passing. My friend David and I met him his mother wife son and daughter in Cala Galdana Menorca when on holidays 1973.

We had a great time hanging out at the pool with them and the Disco at night.
We have very fond memories of the time.

Our condolences to the family and thanks for memories.

Daryl

Hi Daryl, thanks for the kind message. I visited Menorca in 2010 and Stan also reminisced about holidays there in the 1970s. He told me that nothing on earth tastes as good as the Spanish chicken-and-chips! I think he may have been right
Best

So sorry to hear the sad news, over the past few month I had been re-reading the Tobin series that I first read as a young teen by "borrowing" my dads copies - I cant find a copy of "Here comes" (at a reasonable price) for some reason but patience will tell I'm sure

Rob F Wednesday, 14 November 2018 17:55
Hi John - thanks for the message, and yes "Here Comes Tobin" does seem to be one of the more difficult titles to find. I think because it was the last one on Futura Books before the move to Star Books, I suspect that less copies were printed (I think Futura went bust). Best of luck in the quest anyway

A great Obit in The Guardian Rob; top marks indeed; for anyone who didn't know of Stan it would prompt just the right kind of 'OMG' reader-reaction. And it's great that Stan has been acknowledged to the mainstream audience by a media channel that carries the same kind of respect that we all hold for Stan.

I was so saddened to receive your email today Rob, but thank you for it. Must admit I was about to come onto the site to submit my regular update to Stan as to my current status reading and re-reading (continuously) the complete Tobin saga, as you can see from my many previous emails, and also to send him my yearly happy birthday message. I started reading Tobin back in the mid 70s when I was a Typewriter field service engineer, (foot and bus as I couldn't drive) and was continually on the lookout for the newest one, often buying it on the day of release. I tried to track Stan down in the 90s through the various publishers of the previous books, but had no joy until your site came along, and I'm sure that mine, as well as many other folks pestering, inspired Stan to write Cuckoo. Through this site I managed to contact Stan and we did exchange personal email messages and I have a signed photo that he sent me of his Dr No, concierge part. I now have a feeling of great loss and feel like I've lost a close friend. I can only thank you sincerely for creating and maintaining this wonderful site and will keep returning. Love, condolences and all gratitude to his family, and a huge thank you to the man who gave me so much enjoyment. Tarra Stan

Rob F Monday, 22 October 2018 14:03
Lovely words Tony, and I know Stan very much enjoyed chatting to you and you truly achieved super fan status!

I've had a fairly major tidy up of the content around the films section of the site, and there are now most of Stan's appearances on a dedicated Youtube channel.

As for our friend Mr Tobin, I do have some unpublished draft screenplays from the aborted TV show which I need to re-read and decide if they are worth sharing in some form, so keep checking back. Russ may yet have a brief encore in him!

Tony Harrold Monday, 22 October 2018 17:51
That would be great Rob. To be honest whether or not you need to re-read and decide their sharing worth, as a Tobin fan,I'd love to see anything Tobin related, even in it's rawest and unedited form. Even if via private email. Kind regards and huge thanks again for this, now homage, to the great man!

Thank you Rob yes will keep you informed. The BFI in London have several pieces of memorabilia I suspect Stan may have seen before (though sadly no copy of the actual film seems to exist anywhere...?). I'd naively suggested to him we could visit and take a look at what they had and he had to politely decline. However, I have managed to obtain a mint copy of BFI's May 1966 Monthly Bulletin (a snip @ 2-bob; 2/-; 10p for the uninitiated) which reviews - a bit unkindly - Doomsday) but no production pix.

...and collective thanks to tireless Webmaster Guru Rob for proudly showing Stanley's great work for all to see.
Fantastic memorabilia from my Grandpa's work with Stanley I hadn't known about was found here and allowed me to contact Stanley. Wasn't I very lucky... in so many ways.

Rob F Monday, 10 September 2018 08:52
Thanks for the kind words Michael. I know that Stan loved chatting to you on the email about his Merton Park memories. Please keep in touch, and if you ever find that elusive Doomsday poster (or anything else) let me know!

The website will continue and I'm in the process of tidying it up a little bit. There will always be new things to to unearth. I just found a Russian translation of the novel Trance that Stan knew about but had never seen!

How very - VERY sad to get this news.

I can only say it was a proud privilege to have known Stanley; if only briefly via email. A true and charming gentleman by his demeanour in our regular cyberspace exchanges.

Selfishly, I deeply regret not having had the opportunity to meet him personally, although did feel we got to know each other.

Our common link was that my Grandpa worked with Stanley on a couple of productions back in the day; "The Square Mile Murder" & "Doomsday At Eleven" - aside from enjoying his welcome recollections of those, I had been on a quest to obtain an original poster of the latter for Stanley (as had learnt he dearly wanted one) which remains elusively rare.

So thank you Stanley and farewell; I hope you can now look down on us from your writing desk in the clouds and amuse at all our madness around.

You will certainly never be forgotten and we surely all convey our heartfelt warmest respects to Linda.

Friends, I wish I didn't have to write this message but I've just had the devastating news that our dear Stanley Morgan has passed away at the grand old age of 88 frown

This website and the messages that people left for him were a huge source of happiness for him. He made many new friends along the way, gave lots of interviews and told many stories. Please feel free to leave any condolences here, his family will see them and I'm sure it will be appreciated

He will be missed by so many, not least myself, his loyal webmaster for the past 16 years. The site will get a proper overhaul shortly as a permanent tribute to the great man.

And no more books from you?

Dear Mr Morgan,

I am Luis, 17 years old boy from Spain. I am 007 great fan. I hope you are well.

I am writing to you because at my age I have written a book called James Bond: detrás del smoking published by Amazon and available in paperback and Kindle edition about James Bond and his world from the first novels of Ian Fleming to the nowadays cinematographic films

I am the admin of a Facebook group with more than 2.000 followers, a Facebook page and a blog called "The World of James Bond".

I will launch a new edition of the book in English and I think it will be INCREDIBLE to enclose a short interview with you. Everybody will be very glad.

The interview with you would not be the only one because I will include a new chapter about the Spanish actors in 007 films as Simón Andreu (Die another Day), Carlos Leal (Casino Royale) or Fernando Guillén (Quantum Of Solace). Also I had the opportunity to talk and interview with Dame Judi Dench and Bérénice Marlohe (Skyfall). Also, I interviewed make-up designer Naomi Donne, costumer designer Jany Temime, stunt-actor Bobby Holland and Gemita Samarra, stunt specialist Gary Powell, Terry Bamber who has a very strong connection with the films and many others. Also I had the opportunity to speak with Raymond Benson, the first American who wrote a Bond novel. I also met for my book Harry Saltzman’s son, Steven.

Thank you very much and please, let me know if you need more information or whatever,

StanleyMorgan Wednesday, 23 August 2017 00:54
Dear Luis, Thank you for this message. I would be pleased to give you an interview. Would you contact me at my email address: stanleymorgan@lineone.net and we will discuss how you intend to conduct the interview. Best regards.

I was re-reading my classic Russ Tobin novels for the squillionth time and it struck me that next year will be the 50th anniversary of the first novel in the series, The Sewing Machine Man. If it took you, say a year, to write it, then it is likely that 2017 could see the true 50th birthday of his creation.
This is an excellent "excuse" for two worthwhile projects: a box set of all the novels and a feature film.
Mr Morgan, you are a genius and my hand-signed copy of "Cuckoo" remains a prized possession. Thank you for half a century of laughs.

Stanley Morgan Monday, 1 May 2017 00:10
Hi Martin, Thank you so much for these kind words. Yes, it did occur to me very recently that we were approaching the 50th anniversary - and applaud your suggestion of a box set and a film. You are truly one of Russ's greatest fans and I appreciate your writing very much. Forgive the delay in responding, I've been away for a few days. Thank you so much for your continued support. My very best regards, Stanley

Hi Stan,
Even though I left myself a Calendar reminder, I forgot my normal "Happy Birthday!" greeting for yesterday. Wel, Happy Birthday, for yesterday. As always, I hope you are keeping well, and also the family. Since my last communique in April, when Russ was on his way to OZ, I have completed the series once again, and have restarted, once again! I read Sewing Machine Man, Dept Collector and Courier, and realising how much I enjoyed those 2, reread them both again. He's currently paddling in the cool shallow waters with Jean on his first night in Majorca.
Anyway, once again, hope all is good.
Kind regards,
Tony

Stanley Morgan Monday, 14 November 2016 14:16
My Dear Tony...Thank you so much for writing, and for the Birthday wishes. Yes, I and the family are all well So pleased to hear you're enjoying Russ so much. You have to be his NO.1 fan. In return, I hope you and the family are also thriving, and send my very best regards to you. Always splendid to hear from you. Stan.

Dear Stanley.

I'm so pleased to have found someone who knows so much about Merton Park Studios.

My father Brian Rhodes worked there over many years, I know he worked on the film "The clue of the Twisted candle" and many more of the Edgar Wallace franchise.

Jack Greenwood I believe gave my father his start in the business.

My father also worked on the first goon film "The case of the Mukkinese Battlehorn", I've been trying to get hold of a DVD Copy of that film and any of the Edgar Wallace film series, I wonder if you would know where I may get hold of any of those films?

Any idea of film posters for the Edgar Wallace series either would be appreciated?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank You Tony R
