Great nostalgia reading through your site. One little correction regarding The Return of Mr Moto ... the female star was the American actress Suzanne Lloyd, not the English actress Sue Lloyd as stated in your profile of the film.
Best regards. |

Read The Courier back in the mid 90s with my brother but never remembered the name until today. I live in Africa so access to his works is not so easy. The Courier was because my school library back in the 90s had many old gems.
I wish his works were available in e-book format like that of Ted Mark and the rest. We loved his humor and wish his survivors very well. |

Another film featuring Stan has been listed on IMDB recently
The Monster Of Highgate Ponds (a 1961 Children's Film Foundation production) Stan appeared uncredited despite having several scenes and lines of dialog as Mr Miller - father of the children who discover the monster See the FILMS section for a Youtube clip |

Oh My!
How the memories flew back from the seventies when as a late teenager I picked up the Sewing Machine Man. I remember reading every one following thoroughly enjoying Tobin's adventures and of course his success with the ladies which I dearly wished I could copy. The humour and wonderful colourful characters kept me reading until no more stories were left. Then I read them all over again...and again. I lost the whole series in a flood some years ago and having come across this site I now yearn to read them again as a man of some years. Just to see if I get as much out of them as I did as a lad. Looks very. difficult to find any in print but i'll persist..even if I can only get one or two for old times sake. RIP Stanley...you made a young man very happy ...and a little envious of your main character. |

I first came across ‘The Debt Collector’ in a small bookshop in Swanage, whilst on holiday in the 1970s. After reading that, I was hooked, and spent several days tracking down other books in the series. I even named my son after the intrepid Russ, with the hope that he would have as much luck as our hero.
So sad to hear of Stan’s demise, but he has left a very re-readable legacy. |

I have loved Stanley Morgan's work since I discovered him in the late 70s. I am so sad to hear he has gone :(
I will continue to read Stanley's novels over and over forever. I wish I had of known you. Goodbye my friend. :) |

Well, well - yet another TV show appearance has shown up in iMDB for Stan - right at the start of his acting career in 1959 he appeared in two episodes of a BBC court room drama called "The Case Before You". No idea if this footage still exists anywhere. It's not even mentioned in the BFI archive. Have added a new page for it anyway

Hi Rob. Any chance of those scripts please?
Thanks |

3 films have been located for which Stan provided the voiceovers
Someone Special (WReNs recruitment) Men For Tomorrow (Army recruitment) Sugar As Energy (Schools educational) All have been added to the relevant page in the films section Also it has come to light that some of Stan's dialogue from the Scotland Yard series was sampled in 1989 by an act called Hoodlum Priest on a song called "Crime Inc." See the samples side by side in the link https://www.whosampled.com/sample/686655/Hoodlum-Priest-Crime-Inc.-Scotland-Yard-Which-Gang-Was-He-Mixed-Up-In%3F/ |

Dear Linda,
I just heard of Stanley's passing. Please accept my deepest sympathies. Stanley was a great inspiration to me and my Oscar Phelps novels in the past years and he was kind and generous with his time and support. I was hoping that it would be another imdb mistake, as it was years ago when they reported his demise. He told me it took them so long to correct it. Stanley provided an inscription for my third novel and we discussed Russ Tobin and Merton Park and of course 007. I am proud to have known him if only by phone and email these past years, actually as I look back since October 2011. Stanley will be in my thoughts now and I hope you are not suffering too badly. Please accept my best wishes, Yours Sincerely David David B. Green Author: The Oscar Phelps novels Canada |

Have you managed to put together any of those screenplays or other unpublished works of Stan's? An early Christmas present maybe!! I'm still reading the books religiously, by the way!!!! Near the end of Vegas. Cheers. Tony

It was with great sadness I read about Stanley Morgan's passing. My friend David and I met him his mother wife son and daughter in Cala Galdana Menorca when on holidays 1973.
We had a great time hanging out at the pool with them and the Disco at night. We have very fond memories of the time. Our condolences to the family and thanks for memories. Daryl

So sorry to hear the sad news, over the past few month I had been re-reading the Tobin series that I first read as a young teen by "borrowing" my dads copies - I cant find a copy of "Here comes" (at a reasonable price) for some reason but patience will tell I'm sure

A great Obit in The Guardian Rob; top marks indeed; for anyone who didn't know of Stan it would prompt just the right kind of 'OMG' reader-reaction. And it's great that Stan has been acknowledged to the mainstream audience by a media channel that carries the same kind of respect that we all hold for Stan.

I was so saddened to receive your email today Rob, but thank you for it. Must admit I was about to come onto the site to submit my regular update to Stan as to my current status reading and re-reading (continuously) the complete Tobin saga, as you can see from my many previous emails, and also to send him my yearly happy birthday message. I started reading Tobin back in the mid 70s when I was a Typewriter field service engineer, (foot and bus as I couldn't drive) and was continually on the lookout for the newest one, often buying it on the day of release. I tried to track Stan down in the 90s through the various publishers of the previous books, but had no joy until your site came along, and I'm sure that mine, as well as many other folks pestering, inspired Stan to write Cuckoo. Through this site I managed to contact Stan and we did exchange personal email messages and I have a signed photo that he sent me of his Dr No, concierge part. I now have a feeling of great loss and feel like I've lost a close friend. I can only thank you sincerely for creating and maintaining this wonderful site and will keep returning. Love, condolences and all gratitude to his family, and a huge thank you to the man who gave me so much enjoyment. Tarra Stan
